- Your private vehicle key lives in device-only Keychain. It is not synced to iCloud or copied to your Watch.

- Owner testing on one Model Y, including door, trunk and frunk controls. The owner has confirmed the TestFlight build works.
- What you need
- iPhone with iOS 17 or later, Bluetooth, a compatible Tesla and an existing vehicle key card for pairing. Apple Watch is optional and needs the paired iPhone nearby.
- Compatibility
- Model 3, S and X artwork is not proof of compatibility. Features must be tested on your specific vehicle and software.
- Cost and availability
- Free during beta. Launch pricing is undecided; no subscription is planned. France is excluded from this initial beta.

How do I pair my Tesla?
Sit in your parked car with an existing working key card. Enter your VIN, send the pairing request, then approve it at the car’s interior card reader. Its location varies by console generation. Follow the in-app illustration and your vehicle manual. Read the setup guide.
Does it work from anywhere?
No. Your iPhone must be within Bluetooth reach. Signal strength is not a reliable distance measurement; Handlefree does not guarantee a 10-metre boundary. Use controls while parked, with the area clear.
Is this an official Tesla app?
No. Handlefree is an independent app by OneKapisch, not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla, Inc. Keep your existing Tesla app and vehicle keys.
Can I use my Watch without my iPhone?
Not in this beta. The paired iPhone performs the vehicle communication. Watch-face access opens the Watch control; it does not send an unlatch command just by refreshing.
